Clinical Dietitian (Unique combination role in Nutrition and Dietetics: 0.5 FTE with Waitaki District Health Services Ltd. and 0.4 FTE with South Canterbury District Health Board)
Waitaki District Health Services Ltd. (Oamaru Hospital), and South Canterbury DHB (Timaru Hospital) in a supportive partnership are jointly eager to offer the right Dietitian a dual position, split between our two organisations.
In effect, what this cooperative approach enables is the creation of a role that offers a range of clinical practice exposure - ideal for those who thrive on variety (in this case of location and work activity).
How we envisage this working is you would undertake clinical practice on two consecutive days at Timaru Hospital (i.e. 16 hours/week) and the remaining 20 hours at Oamaru Hospital with flexibility to conduct clinics and follow-ups via Telehealth (Microsoft Teams).
You will be seeing a range of patients mainly in an outpatient and domiciliary setting with some inpatient work at Oamaru Hospital, it is possible that opportunities may arise in future to work in the Child Development area as well at SCDHB.
You will be skilled in the dictation, documentation and communication of patient outcomes and have strong interpersonal and advocacy abilities.
You will have experience in providing guidance and advice on nutritional interventions for a variety of adult and paediatric conditions and will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, especially our Diabetes Nurses.
Candidates must:
• be a NZ-registered Dietitian, (ideally with solid clinical / community experience behind you)
• hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate with an Endorsement on Scope of Practice as a Dietitian Prescriber
• have a current NZ Driver Licence
• be able to perform effectively under pressure and prioritise workload accordingly
South Canterbury and Waitaki offer unique settings in which we are both small enough to get to know your patients and colleagues, large enough to provide professional stimulation, and all importantly we have a friendly and relaxed working atmosphere.
If you have any questions, please contact Helen Sharples, Clinical Leader Dietetics, Timaru Hospital on 03 687 2120 or Courtney Fisher, Allied Health Manager, Oamaru Hospital 022 365 5385
